Christian Fotsch

Christian Fotsch, born in 1962, is known throughout Europe as a singer and specialist player of string instruments. He lives as a professional musician near Zürich in Switzerland. As a founding member of XENOS he toured in Europe (1989–96) playing in nearly 500 concerts. Since 1986 he played almost as many concerts with "CORAZON FLAMENCO" and other flamenco formations.

His rhythmic techniques on the Bouzouki are strongly influenced by modern gypsy balkan string playing as well as several years of flamenco guitar study in Sevilla, where he learned the complex art of accompanying flamenco dancing. On the fretless Oud – a short-necked arab lute – and as a singer, his creative and improvising skills are revealed.

His function on stage as a frontman is based on 20 years of singing and playing string instruments with SSASSA, XENOS, THE BUSKINS, THE IRISH EXPERIENCE, CORAZON FLAMENCO and many more great bands. His impulsive, humourous expression and his multi-linguistic talents (German, French, English, Spanish, Turkish, Greek and some Italian) are his resources for great contact with his audience.
